Australian governments at all levels have endorsed WCAG 2.0, and require all government websites (federal, state and territory) to meet the new guidelines at the minimum compliance level (Single A) by the end of 2012. In addition, the Australian Government requires all federal websites to meet the medium conformance level (Double A) by the end of 2014.

Federal government agencies must update all government websites setup --update (as specified within scope under the Website Accessibility National Transition Strategy (NTS)) to WCAG 2.0 conformance. Agencies should use the principle of progressive enhancement when building and managing websites, and test for conformance across multiple browsers and operating system configurations.

Agencies are advised to consider the varied needs of their users and plan for accessibility from the outset. Where accessibility problems are known, agencies should put in place implementation plans to address the problem, then endeavour to minimise future risk by using standards-based web technologies and best practice content management processes.

  • Audit of Homepage and 6 Section Landing pages
  • 4 additional templates
  • Audit of 20 additional pages for content
  • Accessibility audit report
  • Recommendations and action plan
  • Squiz Matrix content accessibility guide

Accessibility Audit format

  • Validate HTML/CSS and review code of selected pages to A or AA standard
  • Review colour contrast of selected pages
  • Review content of selected pages for accessibility issues
  • Compile error report with examples
  • Propose recommendations to meet required Accessibility standard

The results of the audit will be delivered in an easy to understand format with a clear action plan for bringing your website up to standard.
